Job Duties: As SYSTEMS ENGINEER, the employee will be responsible for the following job duties:

• Install, configure, administer, troubleshoot, performance tuning, security, backup, recovery and upgrades of UNIX, Linux (RedHat (5.x, 6.x, 7.0) & SuSE), IBM AIX (5.x, 6.1, 7.1).
• Execute AIX-AIX mksysb migrations and also work on live partition mobility.
• Monitor the systems and administer Servers for day-to- day problems, patches, user administration, and hardware failure, monitoring log files, backup, software upgrades, configuration changes and documentation.
• Perform administration on NPIV, by assigning the Virtual Fiber scsi adapters and assigning the LUNs, LPM administration and performing the operational acceptance test in between the managed system to avoid any point of failures.
• Creation of SCSI adapter and mapping the disk to client LPARs for the NPIV
• Configure, deploy, and maintain VIO, LPAR, MPIO, DLPAR, and IBM HMC V6 & V7.
• Troubleshoot HACMP related issues, going through the log files usingHACMP snap.
• Perform failover testing of HACMP clusters and implementing various failover policies.
• Responsible for building, configuring and migrating servers from Power HA 720/770 to Power 824 Hardware for sandbox, test and production environments.
• Work on Power HA and IAM and handle escalated issues, and provide technical resolutions for UNIX and Linux Servers.
• Work with various security components such as Secure ID Management, LDAP, SSL certificates and other third party security products.
• Configure and administer NFS, DNS, LDAP, DHCP and MAIL server clients.
• Extensively work on P550, P560, P595, P570, P575, P720, P740
• Work on the EMC SAN/NAS Migration from DMX/VMAX to VNX, VSCSI for all the platforms IBM AIX, Red-Hat Linux, Solaris SVM, ZFS and VERITAS Volume Management.
• Responsible for working on SAN, SSO and Active directory services.
• Involve in creating and maintaining user accounts, profiles, security, rights, disk space and process monitoring.

 • Automate configurations and tasks using Perl, Python, PowerShell Scripting

• Implement, configure and deploy new patches, upgrades, bug fixes on both physical and virtual machines like CITRIX, Red Hat Linux servers using RedHat Satellite server
• Apply security patches on Linux, AIX servers and finding the vulnerabilities on it.
• Work on /etc/resolv.conf and TCP/IP protocols for DNS and Hostname/IP resolution.
• Setup cron jobs schedules for various backup and monitoring tasks and supported with enterprise backups
• Create new Citrix virtual machines from scratch and installing tools on it
• Troubleshoot CPU bottle necks, memory bottle necks and give suggestions on performance improvements.
• Perform Red Hat Linux kernel, memory upgrades and undertook RedHat Linux Kickstart installations.
• Support the integration and implementation of UNIX systems and applications, and provide operational support.
• Develop and implement the shell scripting for taking mksysb and push to the centralized NIM server.
• Perform root cause analysis and determine cause of problems in order to develop specific solution to an issue
• Perform tasks related to managing Disk Storage using Volume Manager and LVM command line to create, grow, and/or mirror new volumes and file systems in Unix/Linux environment.
• User and security administration, backup and recovery, kernel tuning.
• Upgrade and Patch servers for server maintenance, upgrading OS to the current level.
• Work with application teams, other support teams and product vendors to engineer solutions that are scalable, supportable and maintainable.
• Configure and deployed patches, upgrades, bug fixes on both physical and virtual Red Hat Linux servers using satellite servers.
• Manage patch and lifecycle management of RHEL6.x servers.
• Work on ksh to bsh shell script conversion for RHEL6.x servers.
• Creating user accounts and providing permissions based on job requirements and security clearance and also resolve technical issues to improve performance.
